Rachel And Blue Skies

Strange weather over here at the moment. It has been raining since November and large parts of the country are under water. Yesterday, 100 MPH winds blew the Irish Sea all over Lancashire, but between the storms, the sun shines and the clouds imitate cotton wool clusters. This picture was taken in Brighouse just an hour ago. The large building in the distance is the old flour mill which is now - appropriately enough - an indoor climbing centre. Rachel looks strangely inviting and, if the rain continues, she probably represents a sensible investment.

  1. We spent a week on a canal boat in 2010, and if wife would allow it, I would retire on one for a few years.
I'll go in half's with you.

  3. We've had blue skies here today, but things are gearing up for the next assault!

  4. This is a wonderful photograph. I half expect Renee Magritte to step from the clouds of the flour mill in his bowler hat. Rachel belongs in a Cohen song ...:)

  5. The photos that I see of your area out and about you will need a bigger boat. I hope the water stays away from you door.

  6. I can't believe all the bad weather you've been having over there -- and for so long! Over here it's all ice and snow over most of the country except down here where we've been having summer all winter long. I can't help wondering, when is our turn coming? I'm going over to see what the Brid Free Press has to say.

  7. This rock climbing craze of the last decade or two is boggling. I have a fifty year old son-in-law training to climb some mountain face in France next summer.

  10. Lovely picture. So glad you're seeing blue skies (so are we for a change!) Still, Rachel looks most alluring. I wonder if the ark had a name -- Noah's Dream? Lady Zoe? Act II?

  11. Sadly our blue skies have deserted us today- wet, windy and cold! Rachel looks inviting to me too.
